Week 7: First birthday in the mission
This week I had real life paella. It's rice with a bunch of other stuff mixed in. Kind of like an ocean themed I-spy. This time I found some tentacles, some crawfish, some seashells, and some mystery meat. Nobody told me you were supposed to peel the crawfish so I just ate it whole. Not too bad.
We went to Miguel and Johann's house this week, they are 15 and 10 and got baptized a few weeks ago. Their mom's boyfriend is Alberto, and we have started to teach him too. We're always at their house and they feed us food and we feed them the gospel. For my birthday we went to their house to eat cake. It was like a little birthday party and we even found an old candle for turning 1!! They are an awesome family.
This week we took a train to Murcia. It's about an hour away and 12 times the size of Lorca. There was a district leader meeting so the left over Elders formed a trio and searched the city of Murcia. We found an old man in a tower 12 floors up. You haven't lived until you take a tiny broken elevator 12 stories up in the ghetto of Spain. This man believes in music. He plays the bongos and has a beard and long hair. He was really nice but didn't have chairs so we stood there and talked for a while.
Kebab is legendary in the mission. It's basically like a burrito with this special meat. So after the meeting in Murcia, I had it for the first time and was kebabtized. They weren't exaggerating.
Whenever we're not eating strange foods we go into the streets of Lorca. It's a small city mostly made up of apartment buildings, with shops on the bottom floor. Most of the city is pretty civilized... others are a bit escalofriante. But it's always fun to walk the streets and talk to people. We have a few investigators and they are all awesome. A lot of people here also come from South America, so many of our families we teach are South American families.
The only thing to do here is go to the castle on the hill. We haven't been yet but we will. The only other missionaries are a 30 minute drive away. Since there's nothing to do for p-day we go to pawn shops and try to play Spanish guitars. And we also made like 50 hot dogs for 4 guys. It's getting close to Christmas which is always more exciting.

Carlos and Rosie are members and they took us to McDonald's for dinner. I can't live without Mcpollos.
